PRESENTATION

Born in July 1971, Marie Bathellier spent her childhood in Brittany between sea and land. She begins her studies at the Beaux-Arts school of Rennes, followed by a year at the Academy of the Arts in Wroclaw, Poland. She graduates at the Faculte d’arts plastiques (Visual Arts) in la Sorbonne, Paris.

After 15 years working as a designer in the textile industry, Marie decide to turn away from the world of production to dedicate her life to the artist within herself.

Exploring and finding meaning in the heart of creativity.

Believing in a instinctive, simple and honest approach to creation.

Since 2013, Marie lives and creates on the island of Yeu.

Her work is influenced by her direct and raw contact to nature, following her mantra that “we are what we love within the world we live in”.

Poetic and experimental inspiration, impulsive and intuitive.

Multitude of sensory experiments, moving to and from different materials.

The artist devotes herself to painting, sculpting and photography with the same interest. Creating art pieces in each medium that fit, resonate and rhyme with one another.

Marie’s work focuses on collecting very selected materials, on the intense pleasure of

the different creation processes, on color and on abstract composition.

With an extreme sensibility to the surrounding world, Marie’s work is a tribute to beauty and the interconnection of men and nature. Art creation being the chaos connecting the human primal side to the world and giving birth to beauty.

Strength and simplicity. Freedom. Echoes to happiness.
